Power Supply for Paper Converting Equipment: Keep 24V Controls Separate from Drive Power

Source-faithful NDR-75-24 on its far-rear DIN mounting plane during isolated paper-roll-rewinder mechanical service refit before termination

A power supply for paper converting equipment should be selected for a defined electrical branch, not for the size of the machine. A rewinder’s sensors and control interface may share a low-voltage branch, while its drives, brakes and cutting mechanisms need their own verified power architecture. Start by naming what the proposed 24 V supply will actually power.

Separate control power from mechanical work

Paper converting equipment includes very different duty cycles. A tissue-roll rewinder, a sheet cutter and a folding line do not become equivalent loads because they all handle paper. Make a branch register from the machine’s drawings and each component’s instructions: required voltage, normal current, startup behavior, switching duty, permitted voltage tolerance and cable route. Record the evidence behind each entry rather than assigning a guessed allowance to every sensor.

Keep motor-drive input, brake circuits and other actuator demands outside the control-supply budget unless the machine designer has expressly included them. A neat cabinet photograph does not prove that the control branch has enough capacity for the installed system.

Source-referenced service-refit illustration: the NDR-75-24 is seated at its far-rear DIN mounting plane in the paper-roll rewinder’s protected dry control pod. A technician uses an inspection light to check mechanical seating and forward clearance before conductor retermination. All four upper and three lower product terminals are genuinely unwired; this is not an energized machine, an electrical acceptance result or the roll-drive supply.

Use an exact full model as the review specimen

그만큼 WEHO NDR-75-24 product table, retained specification and inspected original photograph agree on a 24 V, 3.2 A output. The approved mechanical sheet identifies a 32 mm front width, 125.2 mm upright height and 102 mm front-to-rear depth. That makes it a slim DIN-rail candidate for a protected control compartment; it does not establish that a particular paper-converting load is suitable.

Keep the exact source revision with the order. The photographed nameplate states 100–240 VAC and 50/60 Hz as its nominal input marking. The family specification presents a wider operating-input range separately. These are different descriptions; neither should be silently rewritten onto the photographed label.

Illustrative machine-environment concept, not a completed or verified installation: an NDR-75-24 is shown DIN-rail mounted in a machine control cabinet with automated converting equipment behind it. Cabinet devices, wiring and machine layout are illustrative; no drive separation, load figure or acceptance result is depicted. Model identity and ratings come from the complete source sheet.

Evaluate the branch in its actual operating sequence

A branch that looks acceptable during standby can behave differently when interfaces start together, a valve switches or a communication device restarts. Measure the relevant sequence at the supply and at the furthest load. Retain voltage, current, the measurement point, the machine state and the instrument setup. If a disturbance appears, distinguish a supply event from cable loss, a connection problem or the behavior of the load itself.

Use the component manufacturer’s permitted voltage and the ordered supply’s applicable documentation to set the acceptance criteria. Do not turn a nominal 24 V rating into a universal tolerance or promise a fixed reserve percentage without knowing the branch. Where a fault could affect machine safety, qualified personnel must assess the machine’s own safety design; this article is not a substitute.

Keep paper dust and service access in the cabinet review

The inspected NDR specimen uses its rear bracket and spring latch to engage the DIN rail. The rail belongs on the cabinet backplate behind the full enclosure depth; it is not a support passing through the side of the product. Upper DC terminals and lower input terminals must retain the source orientation. Conductors enter their actual terminal openings, not ventilation openings or screw-access cavities.

Assess the protected compartment, dust control, ventilation path and maintenance access as part of the machine design. Paper dust near a converting process does not give an open-ventilated supply a dustproof rating. The control enclosure should separate electrical equipment from the paper path, while still meeting the ordered unit’s installation requirements. Route cables without obstructing vents or forcing conductors into sharp bends.

A different rotary sheet-cutting machine during mechanical assembly: the NDR-75-24 is rear-DIN-seated for a mounting and clearance check, before electrical termination. Its terminals are genuinely unconnected in this illustration; the guarded paper-feed section is separate, and this is not the cutter-drive supply.

Make maintenance replacement a controlled decision

A replacement review needs more than the words “24 V DIN power supply.” Match the full model, input conditions, branch duty, dimensions, mounting, terminal arrangement and applicable installation instructions. Check how the wiring and enclosure were documented before changing the order or cabinet layout. Keep the approved specimen photograph, drawing revision and branch test record with the machine’s service information.

Engineering concept: branch definition, cabinet fit and measured duty are separate checks. This is not a wiring diagram or a guarantee of machine compatibility.

Frequently asked questions

Can NDR-75-24 power every load on a paper-converting machine?

No such conclusion follows from its rating. It is a candidate for a verified 24 V branch; drives, cutting mechanisms and other loads need separate assessment.

Is a narrow DIN-rail case automatically suitable near paper dust?

No. Form factor does not establish dust protection. Review the protected compartment and the exact unit’s installation conditions.

What should a buyer include in the RFQ?

Provide the full model or required branch characteristics, load evidence, cabinet conditions, mechanical arrangement and the required document revisions. Ask for confirmation of the ordered unit instead of inferring it from a family name.
