LED Driver Wiring for Multiple Fixtures: Separate the Supply From Branch Distribution

Exact LRS-75-48 flat-base chassis installation in the dry compartment of a modular indoor luminaire assembly frame

LED driver wiring for multiple fixtures starts with the fixture input, not with an attractive supply rating. Separate the common DC source from branch distribution, identify which luminaires actually accept that source, and retain the distinction between a constant-voltage input and a bare LED string that requires current regulation.

Confirm the fixture’s accepted electrical interface

“LED fixture” is a description of an assembly, not a complete electrical specification. Obtain the manufacturer’s input requirements for each intended luminaire or module. Determine whether the assembly contains its own current-regulating electronics and accepts a defined DC voltage, or whether it requires an external constant-current driver. Those are different interfaces. A nominal 48 V source must not be connected to an unidentified LED board simply because it has two power wires.

The example in this article is deliberately conditional: separately documented fixtures that accept a compatible 48 V constant-voltage input. Their input limits, startup behavior, current demand and protection requirements remain equipment-specific. No fixture count, total wattage or universal lighting compatibility has been invented. If the receiver evidence is missing, stop the connection design at that missing interface and obtain it before proceeding.

The visible screw uses the authentic existing front clearance hole, not an invented mounting foot; hidden thread engagement and complete equipment compatibility are not established by the scene.

The source and the distribution system have different jobs

The photographed WEHO LRS-75-48 provides the source-specific example. Its actual nameplate identifies a nominal 48 V output and 1.6 A, with nominal input marked 100–240 VAC/1.52 A and 50/60 Hz. The official WEHO 75 W product-family page gives the family route; the authenticated sample photographs and complete approved sheet establish the particular revision illustrated here.

A source rating is not a distribution plan. After the source, the system still needs defined branch conductors, connection points, protective arrangements and receiver identities. A pair of output terminals is not evidence that every luminaire may be attached in an arbitrary chain. Organize the wiring so that the route from source to each intended receiver can be traced from the drawing and service documentation.

For the conditional constant-voltage architecture, show each compatible receiver as its own defined branch in the power tree. Do not recast multiple independently rated fixtures as a series LED string. Series-string current regulation and fixture-level constant-voltage acceptance are separate design questions; this ordinary enclosed source is not presented as an automatic substitute for every lighting driver.

Build a load record from real fixture evidence

Record the accepted input and relevant demand of each receiver, including operating states that matter to the proposed assembly. Separate normal operation from startup and from any other documented transient condition. If the fixture information provides only one consumption figure, do not invent a startup current or claim that the figure covers every mode. Ask for the missing evidence or retain the uncertainty in the design record.

The branch total must come from the actual receiver inventory rather than a demonstration image. A photograph with several luminaire housings does not specify their electrical contents, and the 1.6 A source label does not establish how many fixtures may be connected. The applicable source operating conditions, equipment environment and receiver behavior must all be considered by the responsible designer before approving capacity.

Keep polarity and branch identity readable through service

A wiring package should identify both the source terminals and the destination. For this particular sample, the real guarded front terminal group is L, N, protective earth, negative output and positive output, with the original guard numbered 1–5. The DC branch must retain the receiver’s required polarity and connection identity. A familiar red or black conductor is useful visual context but is not a replacement for the actual diagram and terminal reference.

A passive distribution bank can make branch routes serviceable, but its presence does not prove fault selectivity or conductor protection. Document the selected protective arrangement, its relationship to conductor capability and the installation’s applicable requirements. This article supplies no fuse value or ready-to-install protection circuit. Those choices depend on the real wiring and receiver evidence, not on the supply photograph.

Account for the route to the fixture, not just the terminal voltage

The nominal voltage at the source is only one point in the system. The fixture receives power after the connections and conductor route. Record the path, operating demand and receiver acceptance limits that the design must meet. A branch drawing should make clear where supply voltage is assessed and where receiver voltage is assessed; one should not be substituted for the other without evidence.

Keep power distribution distinct from any separate control or dimming interface. The illustrated source does not gain a new dimming terminal, current-setting interface or factory cable because a luminaire has those features. Refer to the actual fixture documentation when the assembly includes control electronics, and do not infer common grounding or signaling compatibility from the shared supply voltage.

Mount the actual enclosed product as a chassis component

The approved complete drawing for the illustrated sample gives 97 mm front terminal width, 99 mm front-to-rear depth and 30 mm height. It also distinguishes the bottom M3 fixing limits from the side M3 fixing limits. Those are different attachment paths; the bottom limit is 3 mm penetration and the side limit is 5 mm. The real underside photo supports chassis fastening. This product has not been converted into a DIN-rail unit, and the scenes do not add external mounting feet.

The new application scenes show the original shallow case seated against a real steel chassis support. Hidden fastening cannot certify an actual screw length, engagement or installation orientation from an image. Use the confirmed complete drawing and the equipment’s design to define those details. A generic public paragraph with a different dimension is a supplier clarification item, not a source from which to borrow a convenient panel size.

The ventilated enclosed case belongs inside an appropriately designed dry electrical compartment. It is not represented as a sealed outdoor driver or as the previously considered high-line product. Do not import a waterproof claim, high-line input rating or constant-current capability from another family into this sample. The cabinet and finished lighting assembly require their own installation and assessment evidence.

Separate assembly inspection from powered acceptance

The first illustration places the source in a protected distribution compartment associated with a modular indoor luminaire assembly frame. It shows a connected conceptual branch, not a documented compatibility test. The second depicts a distinct architectural linear-module workstation during mechanical-fit inspection before conductor termination. Its empty clamps are intentional: support and access can be checked without implying that the fixtures have been energized.

For the actual product, conductors use the real front clamping mouths beneath the terminal plates. They do not enter roof ventilation openings, screw-head access or the transparent guard. A convincing scene with a conductor in the wrong physical opening would still be rejected. Source-specific geometry and the original label govern the illustration; a caption cannot correct wrong pixels.

Make the release package traceable

Retain the exact model and source revision, the fixture interface documents, branch inventory, conductor routes and protection decisions. Add the equipment-level inspection and acceptance responsibilities separately. Procurement can confirm an authentic source specimen without claiming that the complete lighting system has been approved, and the assembly team can confirm mechanical fit without claiming powered performance.

When a receiver, source revision or branch route changes, return to the affected evidence rather than reusing the old fixture count or an unrelated product label. A traceable handoff makes it possible to identify which decision needs review while leaving already confirmed source facts intact.

Perguntas frequentes

Can this example supply any LED fixture?

No. The example is limited to independently documented receivers with a compatible 48 V constant-voltage input. Bare LED strings or fixtures requiring another electrical interface need their own driver selection.

How many fixtures can be connected?

This article intentionally gives no count. Determine it from actual receiver demand, relevant operating states, source conditions and distribution design. Visible housings in an illustration are not a load schedule.

Is the LRS-75-48 a waterproof or high-line driver?

Those capabilities are not claimed here. The depicted role is a protected indoor dry chassis source with the authenticated sample’s own nominal input and output, not another family’s rating.

Does the unconnected second scene mean the installation has been tested?

No. It shows mechanical fit before termination. Electrical compatibility and powered acceptance remain separate documented activities.
