At an assumed 90% efficiency and a 1000W AC load, the nominal-voltage estimates are 92.6A at 12V, 46.3A at 24V and 23.1A at 48V. The calculation is P ÷ (V × efficiency); it is not a measured efficiency curve or a cable-size recommendation.

The same electrical resistance dissipates heat according to I²R. Halving current would reduce that particular resistive loss to one quarter. This can make a higher-voltage architecture attractive for a longer distribution route, but it does not remove the need to check insulation, protection, connectors and switching equipment at the higher voltage.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://www.wehopower.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/04-engineering-context-63.png" alt="Choosing 12V, 24V or 48V Input for WHP Inverters title=" width="1536" height="1024" choosing 24v or 48v input for whp inverters title ="">
The calculation illustrates the current trade-off only.
