Private Label Power Supply: Control Artwork, Identity and Compliance Evidence Before Ordering

MDR-10-5 physically integrated in barcode-inspection control bay
Quick answer: A private label power supply project should not begin by replacing a logo in a photograph. First agree the exact product configuration, authorized artwork, identity mapping, traceability and the evidence needed for the intended market. Branding cannot substitute for technical acceptance or establish that a certification applies to a changed product.

Private-label discussions combine engineering, purchasing, brand ownership and regulatory review. Problems arise when each team signs off a different reference: the designer sees a new artwork file, the buyer sees a standard model number, and the receiving inspector sees a unit whose markings no longer map cleanly to the documentation. A controlled handover connects these records.

Illustrative 5V electronics integration in a barcode-inspection station. The original MDR-10-5 identity and WEHO trademark are retained. This is not a rebranded unit, an endorsement of a customer machine or evidence that a private-label variant has been offered or approved.

Separate branding permission from product identity

Before changing artwork, record who owns each proposed mark, who may authorize its use and which parties approve the label master. Specify the exact locations of the manufacturer identity, customer identifiers and any model cross-reference. Do not cover required product information or assume that permission to use one trademark authorizes editing another.

A readable nameplate is also an engineering record. Voltage, current, input information, terminal markings and safety information must remain traceable to the ordered construction. If a customer model name differs from the factory name, create a controlled cross-reference rather than relying on visual similarity.

Use a real product to expose the documentation boundaries

The WEHO MDR-10-5 is a documented miniature DIN-rail example with a 5V, 2A exact-model row. Its exterior is 22.5mm front width, 90mm upright height and 100mm front-to-rear depth. The full model appears on the right-side label, not on the narrow front.

The actual sample’s front prints 100–240VAC, 0.33A and 47/63Hz, while its side label prints INPUT 100–240VAC 0.33A, 50/60Hz and OUTPUT +5V 2.0A. Preserve that photographed difference; ask the supplier for the ordered-unit marking master rather than inventing a printing-revision explanation. The website’s 15W field also conflicts with the 5V/2A row and the family sheet’s 10W description. This article adopts neither a 15W capability nor a machine-load allowance.

Authentic product detail: the photographed MDR-10-5 labels and original trademark are unchanged. A source photograph documents the sample; it does not prove the compliance of a proposed private-label construction.

Build an approval matrix that has owners

Record What must be resolved Approval owner to name
Product configuration Exact construction, electrical ratings, drawing and document revisions; what changes are permitted. Engineering and the supplier’s technical contact.
Artwork master Authorized trademarks, literal text, placement, language and model mapping. Brand owner plus technical and regulatory reviewers.
Traceability Factory/customer model cross-reference, lot or serial scheme, packaging and shipment records. Quality and purchasing.
Market evidence Applicable requirements, responsible economic operator, supporting documents and whether changes affect their scope. The qualified reviewer for the destination and finished product.
Production release Accepted representative unit and approved records match the purchase order. The designated order-release authority.

These are a project checklist, not a promise that WEHO provides a particular private-label service or that every label change is legally permissible. Confirm the current offer and its documented scope with the supplier.

A different illustrative component-counting machine uses the unchanged MDR-10-5 identity in its dry electronics compartment. Its equipment layout, product position and source-supported view differ from the barcode-station example. No private-label artwork is created in either scene.

Do not transfer compliance claims by copying a symbol

For the EU, European Commission guidance explains that an importer or distributor marketing a product under its own name takes on manufacturer responsibilities. The applicable assessment and documentation depend on the product and the rules that cover it; a commercial branding agreement does not settle that assessment.

Before release, have the relevant reviewer determine the destination requirements and verify that the documents identify the actual construction and responsible parties. This article does not determine the MDR-10-5’s certification status or the legality of any proposed rebrand. The photographed CE marking alone is not the complete evidence needed for that decision.

Conceptual identity handover. The original product, proposed artwork and market evidence remain distinct until the responsible people resolve and approve the controlled records.

Frequently asked questions

Can a supplier photograph be relabelled for an RFQ?

Do not present an edited product label as an authentic unit. Discuss proposed artwork in a clearly identified controlled document, with permission from the relevant owners, while retaining the real sample identity.

Is the customer model number enough for incoming inspection?

Not unless it maps to the exact supplier construction and document revisions. Inspect the actual labels and traceability records against that mapping, and hold discrepancies for disposition.

What if the commercial and technical documents disagree?

Resolve the disagreement before production release. Keep the conflicting originals and issue an approved revision; silently changing an image or renaming a file does not correct the product record.
