An OEM may accept one engineering sample yet still receive an unsuitable production shipment if the purchase order does not identify the approved construction and documents. Conversely, a sound technical candidate may be commercially unavailable in the required quantity or delivery window. Keeping these decisions separate makes the supplier conversation more precise.

Freeze the technical reference before asking for production terms
Start the RFQ with the full model, required nominal output, intended input supply, actual control-load list and enclosure conditions. Supply the equipment mounting drawing and identify terminal access, conductor routing and service needs. The supplier can then quote a defined configuration instead of guessing what “24V industrial power supply” means.
IL WEHO NDR-120-24 provides a documented 24V, 5A DIN-rail example for this discussion. Its controlled mechanical envelope is 40mm front width, 125.2mm upright height and 113.5mm front-to-rear depth. These dimensions describe the case; they do not allocate wiring bends, ventilation or removal space.
The photographed sample says INPUT 100–240VAC 2.6A, 50/60Hz and OUTPUT 24V 5.0A. The family sheet gives a wider 85–264VAC, 47–63Hz operating range. Preserve both records separately and ask which applies to the ordered revision. Neither a label photograph nor a general product page proves the buyer’s machine load, jurisdictional compliance or installation.

Ask three commercial questions that have dated answers
| Question | Useful supplier response | What the buyer should not assume |
|---|---|---|
| What is the MOQ? | Quantity for this exact standard or customized configuration, any sample exception, and whether packaging or artwork changes affect it. | A family-wide permanent minimum, or that a sample quantity is the production minimum. |
| When can this order ship? | Quotation date, stock or production basis, starting event, estimated dispatch date and any prerequisites such as drawing sign-off. | A guaranteed arrival date from a generic lead-time statement; transit and dispatch are different events. |
| What are the payment terms? | Currency, deposit and balance events, beneficiary information verified through an agreed channel, and the document triggering each payment. | That website contact details or another buyer’s terms automatically govern this order. |
This article gives no WEHO MOQ, production lead time or payment percentage: those values were not verified for a specific order. Ask for a current written quotation and reconcile it with the purchase order.
Make the acceptance sample representative
Record its full-model label, serial or lot identification, drawing revision and the documents used for the check. Install it in the intended electrical compartment using the documented rear DIN mounting, then conduct the project’s required electrical and thermal evaluations. A control-power supply is not automatically the machine’s motor supply; the load architecture must show that distinction.

If a production unit differs from the accepted sample, identify the change before continuing assembly. A similar-looking enclosure or an identical nominal voltage does not establish interchangeability. Ask the supplier to state how production changes and substitutions will be communicated, and keep the acceptance criteria with the order rather than only in an email thread.
Define release evidence, not just an inspection checkbox
Decide which records accompany the shipment: the agreed model and revision, quantity and packing list, traceable lot information, ordered-unit instructions and the compliance documents required for the destination and finished equipment. Establish who reviews missing or contradictory records and who may authorize deviations. Photographic markings alone are not a certification dossier.

Frequently asked questions
Can the sample price be used for the production order?
Only if the supplier’s current quotation expressly covers the production quantity, specification, packaging and terms. Keep sample and production quote references separate when their bases differ.
Does the NDR-120-24 label establish suitability for every 24V machine?
No. Confirm actual demand, transients, temperature, input conditions, protection and installation for the intended equipment. The documented 24V/5A rating is a selection input, not a system approval.
What is the best way to reduce procurement delay?
Send one controlled RFQ containing the technical reference and commercial questions, designate decision owners, and resolve deviations before releasing production. A precise request often prevents repeated clarification more effectively than comparing headline prices.
